logo-cecl-largeThe Strategic Project comprises the scientific activities and the strategic research agenda of our research unit. It encompasses three research groups, which integrate all the researchers, the master and doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows whose work is supervised by senior researchers at CECL.

In the context of its Strategic Project, the team developed 4 projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), 1 project commissioned by a private Foundation (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation) and 1 project in international partnership. Within these projects, we highlight the significant growth in outputs linked to applied areas ranging from culture and the arts (Project «Public Communication of Art: the case of global and local museums»); cyberculture (Project «Fiction and the Roots of Cyberculture», which investigated the relationship between fiction and literary production and the techno-scientific culture in the twentieth century) and scientific culture and medical imaging (Project «History of Visual Culture of Medicine in Portugal»). In our research, we seek to fulfil objectives of social innovation, as was the case of the project «Tourist Cultures», which made an extensive survey of the sociocultural integration of neo-residents in the southern region of Portugal, aimed at the development of new tourism strategies in the Algarve region, and also the participation in the Project «Tele-health: iDTV –HEALTH», in partnership with the University of Austin Texas, hosted by the research center CICANT / Lusophone University in Lisbon.
